Major NGL Expansion Commissioned at Pembina Complex in Industrial Heartland

A major expansion at Pembina Pipeline Corp.‘s Redwater Complex in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland is now in service following the commissioning of the Redwater Fractionation and Storage IV (RFS IV) facility in May, adding significant new capacity to the world’s highest performing energy and chemicals industrial cluster.

The new facility contributes an additional 55,000 barrels per day of fractionation capacity, bringing the Redwater Complex’s total throughput to approximately 256,000 barrels per day. The expansion strengthens the site’s role within an integrated NGL value chain and enhances its ability to meet current customer demand while supporting future growth.

The project represents a significant capital investment in energy infrastructure in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, a region that continues to serve as a strategic centre for processing, storage, and distribution of hydrocarbons.

According to project information, RFS IV was delivered safely and on schedule after four years of planning, engineering, and construction. The project involved the coordinated efforts of thousands of employees, contractors, and business partners across multiple disciplines.

The successful commissioning reflects a continued focus on operational excellence and collaboration across the energy value chain, as well as ongoing investment in expanding infrastructure capacity in Western Canada.
