NOVEMBER 10, 2025 / LAMONT COUNTY, AB – Alberta’s Industrial Heartland Association (AIHA) notes the recent announcement by Fortune Minerals Limited regarding a C$3.8 million loan from Prosper NWT to support the acquisition of a Lamont County site. The funding will allow Fortune Minerals to complete the purchase of the site and advance their proposal to construct a hydrometallurgical facility for processing concentrates from the NICO cobalt-gold-bismuth-copper project in the Northwest Territories.

Located in Lamont County, the refinery site spans more than 76 acres adjacent to the Canadian National Railway and benefits from existing industrial infrastructure, serviced buildings, and planning approvals in place for industrial development. Once operational, the facility will produce value-added critical mineral products, supporting Canada’s energy transition, new technologies, and defense supply chains.

Robin Goad, President and CEO of Fortune Minerals, noted that securing the site is a key step in advancing the vertically integrated NICO Project and mitigating development risk, while highlighting the importance of critical minerals to the Canadian economy.

The project underscores Alberta’s Industrial Heartland’s growing role as a hub for industrial development, critical mineral processing, and energy innovation. With established infrastructure, access to skilled labor, and proximity to other major industrial operations, the region continues to attract investment and projects that contribute to Canada’s industrial and economic growth.
