Fortune Minerals Completes Purchase of Lamont County Site for Proposed Refinery

DECEMBER 15, 2025 / LAMONT COUNTY, AB – Fortune Minerals Limited has completed the purchase of Lamont County site for its proposed refinery, following the closing of a C$3.8 million loan from Prosper NWT. The transaction finalizes the company’s ownership of the site and removes a key development risk as it advances the vertically integrated NICO critical minerals project toward a construction decision.

If the project is approved, the 77-acre brownfield site, located within Alberta’s Industrial Heartland and adjacent to the Canadian National Railway, will be developed into a hydrometallurgical facility. Intended to produce value-added critical mineral products for North American markets, the proposed facility will process concentrates from Fortune’s proposed NICO cobalt-gold-bismuth-copper project in the Northwest Territories.

The Lamont County site includes existing serviced buildings and industrial infrastructure that will be expanded and retrofitted for refinery operations as part of the proposed project. Its location within an established industrial hub provides access to utilities, transportation networks, and services already supporting petrochemical and critical minerals processing.

Robin Goad, President and CEO of Fortune Minerals, said securing the Alberta refinery site represents an important milestone for the NICO Project, reducing execution risk and strengthening supply chain certainty as the company moves closer to a construction decision.

The project highlights Alberta’s Industrial Heartland as a growing centre for critical mineral processing, supporting supply chains tied to energy transition technologies, advanced manufacturing, and national security.
