MAY 20, 2026 / FORT SASKATCHEWAN, AB – Keyera, AltaGas and CN have announced plans to advance the Alberta Corridor Export (ACE) Rail Terminal Project, a major infrastructure investment that will strengthen Canada’s energy supply chain and expand access to global markets from Alberta’s Industrial Heartland.
The ACE Rail Terminal will be constructed on Keyera-owned land within Alberta’s Industrial Heartland and will connect the region to West Coast export facilities through CN’s rail network and AltaGas’ export platform. The project is designed to improve market access for propane and butane produced in the region while enhancing the competitiveness of Canadian energy products internationally.
Keyera will invest approximately $240 million in the project, which is expected to provide transportation capacity of approximately 45,000 barrels per day of propane and butane when operations begin. The terminal has been designed with future growth in mind and can accommodate additional energy products as market opportunities evolve.
The facility will utilize a unit-train rail loop design intended to improve loading efficiency, reduce handling requirements, and lower transportation costs compared to traditional rail solutions. Construction activities are already underway, with the terminal expected to enter service in mid-2028.
The project represents another significant infrastructure investment in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, reinforcing the region’s role as a strategic hub for energy processing, transportation and export. By linking production facilities in the Heartland to growing export markets on the West Coast, the ACE Rail Terminal will support long-term economic growth, job creation and enhanced supply chain connectivity.
