Community support
AIH maintains over 30,000 jobs

Our community plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the Industrial Heartland. We value being an integrated part of the fabric that helps makes our region thrive. Supporting the communities around Alberta’s Industrial Heartland is foundational to the work AIHA completes.
Did you know the companies operating in the Industrial Heartland contribute about $2 billion in local spending and supports about 30,000 jobs?

Life in the heartland
We are committed to engaging, listening, and helping build our local communities through Life in the Heartland (LITH).
Life in the Heartland is a collaborative communications initiative working to increase resident awareness of industrial projects and development in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland region. LITH is a collaboration between AIHA, Fort Air Partnership, Northeast Capital Industrial Association, and Northeast Region CAER.

Indigenous Partnerships
We acknowledge the traditional territories of the Indigenous Peoples of the Treaty 6 region and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Regions 2 and 4. We respect the truth, languages and cultures of all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit and we would like to pay respect to all of the Indigenous Peoples who have cared for this land for generations.
Alberta’s Industrial Heartland is committed to the principles of Truth and Reconciliations. As part of that commitment, AIHA has and will continue to engage directly with Indigenous communities in proximity to the region. AIHA has developed a Consultation Toolkit to help guide potential international investors through their first steps in engaging with Indigenous communities. In addition, we have developed an Indigenous Business Directory to help introduce companies to Indigenous-owned businesses in the region in order to ensure they have the opportunity to benefit from new development.
