History and Governance
Alberta’s Industrial Heartland Association (AIHA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 to guide investment attraction to Alberta’s Industrial Heartland. - City of Fort Saskatchewan
- Lamont County
- Strathcona County

Associate Membership was added in 2011. Associate Members are municipalities invited to participate on committees, task forces, and attend Board meetings. While Associate Members do not have voting rights, their views contribute to the actions taken by the Association.
The three Associate Members include:
Strategic Partnerships
AIHA thrives on collaborative partnerships that ensure long-term stability and community support. Our five municipal members, along with three associate members, work together through the Board of Directors, providing strategic oversight and alignment with regional priorities.
Partnerships beyond municipal members are equally critical. Engagement with industry, government, and non-profit organizations occurs through joint initiatives, information sharing, and participation in key programs, reinforcing community trust, regulatory alignment, and social license—all of which are essential for sustainable industrial investment.
